Bodies were still laying on the ground several hours after the explosion. According to reports, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, chief of Russia's Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Protection Troops, along with his assistant, were killed when a bomb hidden inside an electric scooter was command detonated by Ukrainian Security Services (SBU) operatives. The incident happened in front of an apartment building in the Russian capital city of Moscow.

Kirillov was said to be responsible for the use of chemical weapons against Ukrainian troops.
